Our 2022 paddle boarding challenge is open to everyone whether you have used a paddle board or not!
We aim to start the challenge process at the beginning of May building people’s confidence ready for the 1st July weekend when we will aim to paddle board a section of the Yorkshire coast line. Initially we will train on the rivers and lakes near to Harrogate building up to visiting the coast. Training session will be held on a Wednesday evening and as we get braver and need longer training session we will include some Sundays. We ask that you commit to attending regularly so that you get the most benefit from the training and being involved in the group.
Our challenges are about more than achieving the set goal, whilst we learn, train and get ready for the event we also work through our other challenges. We will look at unhealthy thoughts and what they do to us, and help creating new thought patterns and habits, if you get “unstuck” in repeat patterns or don’t know how to move forward, we will break down those barriers. If you lack in self-love or belief we can tackle that too. It is so easy in our busy lives with to do lists to forget who we are and we don’t take care of ourselves. This is an opportunity to put YOU on the list, take time out in a supportive, non-judgement group to rediscover yourself and to start living your best life ever.
What we need from you:
Firstly, we need commitment. That includes the promise to attend as many training sessions as possible. This is key, as we will work through our challenges every week, you will learn from other people’s journey as much as your own. Also, you will learn paddle boarding techniques which will keep you and the rest of the group safe.
You will need to buy your own kit. However, if you are not sure if it’s for you, you are welcome to come to a taster event and try it out before committing. For that you need clothes you don’t mind if they get wet!!
If you do decide to join us, we do not charge for the training and coaching sessions however we do ask that you commit to raising sponsorship or given a donation for the challenge weekend. This is to make sure we keep ICL going so we can continue to support you and others.
